Handle possible synthetic voice within the whole call.

Possible synthetic voice is one part of the review. Agents still need to inspect the request, channel, behavior, and verification history, then challenge, hold, call back, or escalate before a sensitive action.

NeuroCall is in Beta. This page is limited to workflow scoping and product discussion.

01 · What public sources show

Impersonation develops across the conversation.

Public reporting describes attempts that combine channel, context, urgency, and sometimes AI-generated voice. The response therefore has to address the wider call.

United States · FBI advisory15 May 2025
Sequence

AI-generated voice was one part of the approach.

The FBI described text and AI-generated voice messages that impersonated senior U.S. officials. The campaign sought to establish rapport, move targets to another platform, and gain access to personal accounts.

United States · Consumer reports2025 data
$3.5B

Reported losses span many imposter-scam methods.

The FTC says people reported losing $3.5 billion to imposter scams in 2025. Reports involved phone, text, email, social media, search, and other channels. The figure is not a deepfake-loss total.

TCPA

The FCC ruling addresses AI-generated robocall voices.

The FCC classified AI-generated voices in robocalls as “artificial” under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. That legal classification does not determine whether a live caller or particular recording is synthetic.

£1.28B

Member-reported losses cover payment-fraud categories.

UK Finance reports that £1.28 billion was stolen through payment fraud in 2025. Its member data counts affected cards or accounts rather than individual people; the total is not specific to cloned voice or deepfakes.

02 · Follow the call

Risk becomes concrete at the action.

Synthetic or cloned voice may influence trust. The operational decision arrives when the caller asks for an action they may lack authority to approve.

01
Receive

A caller presents an account problem

The conversation begins with a payment, access, profile, or account request that appears plausible.

02
Inspect

Details make the request feel familiar

Names, roles, account details, and a familiar-sounding voice can make the caller’s story more convincing.

03
Challenge

Verification meets resistance

The caller uses urgency, authority, or inconvenience to discourage an independent check.

04
Hold

A protected action comes into view

The request reaches an access reset, destination change, data disclosure, or release of value.

05
Escalate

The consequence can extend beyond the call

Completing the action may enable account takeover, further impersonation, or payment fraud.

Voice is one input to the inspection. The workflow must also cover absent or uncertain voice evidence and calls whose other details appear plausible.

03 · Inspect familiar cues

Familiarity does not grant authority.

Caller ID, known details, and voice recognition can inform the review. Authorization for a sensitive action needs an independent, policy-approved check.

Caller ID

Treat the incoming number as routing context. For a callback, use an approved number the organization already holds.

Knowledge questions

A knowledge check helps only when the answer is secret, current, and unavailable to the person applying pressure.

Voice familiarity

A familiar voice adds context. Identity and authority still require an independent check before a protected action.

Callback through a trusted route

The FBI advises people who receive suspicious messages to find a trusted contact route independently instead of relying on the incoming number or message.

04 · NeuroCall Beta voice review

A voice indicator informs review; it does not answer the call.

NeuroCall is a Beta product that inspects authorized audio in selected live calls for possible synthetic-speech and cloned-voice indicators. Any result is reviewed alongside call context, identity checks, the requested action, and the organization’s policy.

03 · RespondChallenge, hold, callback, or escalate

05 · Choose the call response

The action and evidence determine the next step.

A sensitive request may stay live for a challenge, move to hold, require a callback, or need escalation. The organization defines those branches in its authorization policy.

Information to define during workflow scoping

What the agent reviews before acting

  • Requested action and policy trigger
  • Channel and session context
  • Completed and unsuccessful verification steps
  • Any available voice indicator and its limits

Challenge

Call condition

The requested action requires verification and the call can remain live.

Policy response

Apply the organization’s approved check for that action. Biographical details or an improvised secret may already be known to the caller.

Hold

Call condition

Pressure is increasing or the available evidence cannot be reconciled.

Policy response

Pause the protected action and keep the account state unchanged while the relevant checks continue.

Callback

Call condition

The incoming route or claimed identity needs independent confirmation.

Policy response

Reconnect through an approved number or authenticated channel already held by the organization.

Escalate

Call condition

Evidence conflicts, the potential impact is high, or policy requires specialist review.

Policy response

Send the requested action, completed checks, call context, and any voice indicator to the authorized fraud, security, or supervisory path.

06 · Workflow design and fallback

Fallbacks belong in the call workflow.

Scoping covers authorized media, minimum call context, decision ownership, and audit needs. Specific telephony, CRM, and fraud-platform connections are outside this page.

Call material

Authorized audio and relevant context

Workflow scoping identifies the authorized audio and minimum call details that could support review.

Beta voice review

NeuroCall

NeuroCall is a Beta product that inspects audio for possible synthetic-speech or cloned-voice indicators. It does not determine identity, intent, or fraud.

Policy response

Challenge, hold, callback, or escalation

The organization decides how call context and any voice indicator affect its existing protected-action policy.

Signal unavailable

The existing protected-action policy governs the call whenever voice analysis is unavailable or unauthorized.

Voice review remains unresolved

Keep the protected action on its existing policy path when a possible indicator cannot be resolved during review.

Evidence conflicts

When voice, account, channel, and behavioral context disagree, use the designated hold or escalation route.

The protected-action policy remains in control. It governs the call when a voice indicator is absent, unavailable, or uncertain.

07 · Source scope

Read each source in its own context.

These records cover different geographies, channels, legal questions, and reporting methods. Together they inform workflow scoping; they do not measure NeuroCall.

Scope carried into this page

  • NeuroCall is in Beta; this discussion is limited to possible workflow use.
  • Product performance and production behavior are outside this page’s scope.
  • FTC and UK Finance totals cover their reported scam and fraud categories rather than deepfake losses.
  • Each organization retains its authorization policy and final call decision.

Reporting note. The FTC figure covers losses people reported across imposter-scam methods in the United States. UK Finance reports gross losses from member firms across payment-fraud categories; each case represents a defrauded card or account, and a confirmed case requires financial loss.

Scope the workflow

A useful discussion starts with one protected action.

Bring the call context, current verification step, callback route, and escalation owner. We can discuss where a Beta voice indicator may fit and where existing policy should lead.
